meeng2phys - convert MECS HK data from ENGineering TO PHYSical units

SYNOPSIS

meeng2phys [infile=] <file_name> [parameter=value ...]

DESCRIPTION

eng2phys is used to scale the original digital telemetry values in a raw MECS HK file to physical units, i.e. photomoltiplier temperature to "Deg Celsius" or high voltage readings of drift region in the gas cell to "V". The program simply reads a raw MECS HK file (suffixed "_rhk.fits") and writes out the resulting new file (suffixed "_hkp.fits") in which the data types of certain Bintable columns have changed from "I" to "E". Both types of HK files ("_rhk" + "_hkp") can be inspected, for instance, with the hkplot module.

PARAMETERS

The following command line parameters are recognized by the program:

infile = "" [string]

The raw HK FITS file to be transformed. The name of the output file is derived from infile, i.e., a potential suffix "_rhk" is changed to "_hkp".



outdir = "=" [string]

The destination directory for the output HK file. If "=" is specified for outdir (the default), the output file is written to the directory where the input file was found.



attflt = yes [boolean: yes|no]

This parameter enables the filtering of attitude data contained in extension #4. This task rejects any point out of a tolerance cone centered on the median of the pointing direction.



range = 5 [real: > 0]

The full width of the tolerance cone in arcmin.



verbosity = 2 [integer: 0|1|2|3]

Specifies the program verbosity level, i.e. the amount of screen output that will be issued during program execution. Level 0 means "mute", only fatal error messages will be printed. Verbosity level 3 results into detailed diagnostic messages. Default is level 1.



help = no [boolean: yes|no]

Display a brief on-screen description of all available command line parameters together with the current program version number.

EXAMPLES

1. Scale contents of raw HK file "fot_000031_ME_001_n_rhk.fits" to physical units and create resulting output file "fot_000031_ME_001_n_hkp.fits" in the directory where the input file was found. Verbosity level is maximum (3):

       meeng2phys fot_000031_ME_001_n_rhk.fits verb=3
