SAX Software

SAX software for data reduction is being developed in two different environments:

XAS (X-ray Astronomy Analysis System) , specifically for the PDS, HPGSPC and MECS instruments.
XAS software is being developed at IFCTR/CNR, TESRE/CNR and IFCAI/CNR and is being integrated by SAX/SDC.
In this environment all files are in ascii or XAS format. Programs will be available to convert these files in FITS format.
The dialog with the programs is through runstring and/or envirormental variables.

XAS software will be available for DEC Ultrix 4.3, DEC Unix 3.2, HP-UX 9.01/9.05 and SUN Os 4.1.x operating systems.

FTOOLS, specifically for the LECS, MECS and WFC instruments.

LECS and MECS software are part of the same package (called SAXDAS) and share a number of programs. This software is being developed at SSD/ESA, SAX/SDC and IAS/CNR.

SAXDAS software is available for Alpha OSF-1, SUN OS 4.1.x, HP-UX operating systems.

WFC software constitutes a different package and is being developed at SRU/SRON.
In this environment all files that are newly created by any of the software moduli are exclusively in FITS format (OGIP compatible).
The dialog with the programs is through runstring and parameter files.

WFC software is available for DEC Unix 3.2 and HP-UX operating systems, and one user group has installed WFC software under Solaris on a SUN machine as of July 1997. The current version is 101-104 (15 july 1997)
