NAME
meselobs - select MECS observations to be concatenated
SYNOPSIS
meselobs [parameter=value ...]
DESCRIPTION
meselobs is a tool to find all FITS event list files
in a directory that are compatible with each
other. Compatibility of event list files in this context is defined
as equality of the instrument configurations under which the corresponding
data have been acquired. Actually, if the values of a set of header keywords
in the event extension of two files are found to match, those files
are considered to be compatible.
The tool returns on stdout the sets of names of compatible event files
in the proper temporal order, i.e., in ascending order
of the values of the TSTART keyword. Each different set of file
names on stdout is separated by a blank line. In this example experimental
conditions changed between observations 1,2,3 and 4,5 :
fot_000000_M1_01_rev.fits
fot_000000_M1_02_rev.fits
fot_000000_M1_03_rev.fits
fot_000000_M1_04_rev.fits
fot_000000_M1_05_rev.fits
The sets of file names can be passed to
mecatobs module for concatenating
event list files using a pipe., or
can be redirected to a file. Also this file can be passed directly to mecatobs.
PARAMETERS
The following command line parameters are recognized by the program:
- filelist = "" [string: event list file name]
- File containing a list of event files that have to be checked.
This file file can be generated as follows (for the MECS1):
/bin/ls /dirname/*M1*_rev.fits > filename
dirname should be the full path or the path relatively to
the directory where the command is executed (ex: ../mydir or
/data/mydir)
- instrument = "" [string: ME]
- SAX instrument.
- activekeys = "" [string: all]
- Possible values are none, all or the specific set of
experiment configuration keywords to be checked. Using activekeys="?"
the program shows the possible key names and exits successfully.
Click here to see the complete set
of keys in the event file extension.
Note that even if none is used the following basic keywords are checked
in any case : INSTRUME, DATAMODE, SUBMODE, OBJECT, OBS_MODE
- help = no [boolean: yes|no]
- A boolean flag which, when set to yes triggers that the program
prints out a brief on-screen description of all available command line
parameters together with the current program version number and exits
successfully.
EXAMPLES
- Print on stdout a series of time ordered list of files of MECS1
in a directory that are compatible with each other:
/bin/ls /dirname/*M1*_rev.fits > filename
meselobs filelist=filename
