Getting to SSDC (formerly ASDC)

From Fiumicino or Ciampino Airport:
The best way to reach SSDC is:

  • From the International Airport of Rome Fiumicino "LEONARDO DA VINCI" take the Leonardo Express train that from the airport leads to the FS station Roma Termini. Then use the Metro A to Anagnina. From there take a bus lines available.
  • From Ciampino Airport "PASTINE " (Ciampino) you can reach by bus (every 20 minutes), the Ciampino train station. From there go to stop Anagnina/Casal Morena and then take one of the bus lines available.

  • Arriving by Train:
  • From Rome - Termini Central Station:
    - Use the Subway line A until the stop "Anagnina" (22 stops, about 15 minutes).
    - Then go to "Arrivi Cotral-Metro" side and take bus n. 20, towards Cambellotti (7 stops, about 17 minutes)
    - Get down at Cambridge-Columbia
    - Walk to Via del Politecnico just to Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (550 meters, about 7 minutes).

  • From Rome other railway Station:
    - Use Subway line A or B to reach Termini Central Station and then follow the instructions given above.

  • Arriving by Car:
    Every motorway joins up with the "Grande Raccordo Anulare" (or G.R.A. - Rome Ring Road) with exits for the centre and Rome's suburbs.

    To arrive to SSDC from Grande Raccordo Anulare (G.R.A.) the best way is:
    - Take A1 towards Napoli take exit n. 19-20 exit "La Romanina - Torrenova"
    - Continue on the ramp and merge onto Via Vittorio Ragusa
    - Slight left onto Via Mario Pastore
    - Slight right onto Via Angelo Motta
    - At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Via Stanford
    - Turn right to stay on Via Stanford
    - Turn right onto Viale della Sorbona
    - At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Via Columbia
    - Turn left onto Via del Politecnico
     

    USEFUL INFORMATION - How to reach Rome

    From Fiumicino Airport:
    The main airport of Rome is "LEONARDO DA VINCI" (Fiumicino), located about 26 km from the centre and connected to the city centre by trains and buses.
    The best way to reach the city are by:

  • Train: A station is situated iside the airport which provides the following rail services:
    - The "Leonardo Express" Shuttle-Train to Termini Station (connecting with the Metro-lines A and B), not calling at other stations, in just 31 minutes (leaving every half hour - from 6.36 a.m. To 11.36 p.m.). Ticket: € 14,00
    - The FR1 to Tiburtina Station (Metro B) in 45 minutes (leaving every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 on weekends and holidays, from 5.57 a.m. To 11.27 p.m.). The train meets the metro's B Line also at Ostiense Station. Ticket: € 8,00

  • Bus: Rome "Leonardo da Vinci" airport can be reached by means of different bus lines.
    Connections with domestic and international arrivals is provided by:
    COTRAL, SIT, TERRAVISION, ATRAL-SCHIAFFINI

  • Taxi: Taxis may be found in the square in front of airport Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 5.

    The fares for the service are:
    from- to Fiumicino Airport- Ostiense Station 45 euro
    from- to Fiumicino Airport-Aurelian Walls 48 euro
    from- to Fiumicino Airport- Tiburtina Station 55 euro
    from- to Fiumicino Airport-Civitavecchia Harbor 120 euro
    from- to Fiumicino Airport-Magliana Castle 30 euro
    from- to Fiumicino Airport- New Rome Fair 25 euro
    from- to Fiumicino Airport-Ciampino Airport 50 euro

    The cars for the taxi service of the City of Rome are white and can be recognized by the sign "TAXI" on the car top and by the identifying licence number on the doors, on the back and inside the car.
    The baggage is included, for a maximum of four passengers.

  • Car: "Leonardo da Vinci" airport is 32 km far from Rome and can be easily reached running across the Grande Raccordo Anulare and by taking the highway A91 Rome-Fiumicino, where it is only necessary to follow the indications to reach Terminals of the domestic and international flights.
    From Civitavecchia you can take the highway to Rome and after the exit tollgate, follow the directions at the height of the crossroads leading to the airport.

  • From Ciampino Airport:
    The Capital's airport is "PASTINE" in the municipality of Ciampino: situated about 20 km from the city and linked to the centre by bus, train and metro.
    The best way to reach the city are by:

  • Train: The nearest railway station to "Giovan Battista Pastine" airport is Ciampino Città, connected to the airport by the buses COTRAL/SCHIAFFINI every 30 minutes. The traveling time is about 5 minutes. Tickets, sold by authorised personnel on the bus and at the station, cost € 1,00.
    A surface light rail system connects Ciampino railway station to Termini railway station in about 15 minutes.

  • Bus: Rome Ciampino airport can be reached by means of different bus lines.
    Daily connections between the airport and FS Roma Termini station are guaranteed by the bus services operated by:
    ATRAL, COTRAL, SIT, TERRAVISION, SCHIAFFINI
    The buses are parked in dedicated bus bays opposite International Departures.

  • Taxi: At Ciampino airport, near the exit, there is a taxi service to Rome.

    The fares for the service are:
    from- to Ciampino Airport-Aurelian Walls 30 euro
    from- to Ciampino Airport- Ostiense Station 30 euro
    from- to Ciampino Airport- Tiburtina Station 35 euro
    from- to Ciampino Airport-Fiumicino Airport 50 euro

  • Car: "Giovan Battista Pastine" airport is in via Appia Nuova, just 15 km from Rome, close to the Grande Raccordo Anulare (GRA) - exit n. 23, off the Roma-Napoli and Roma-L'Aquila highways. Those coming from Rome can reach the airport by traveling along via Appia Nuova towards Castelli Romani. Those coming from the "Leonardo da Vinci" di Roma - Fiumicino airport should take the Fiumicino-Roma highway to get on the Grande Raccordo Anulare towards via Appia Nuova, and at exit 23 follow the signs for "Ciampino aeroporto". Those coming from the Highway must get on the Grande Raccordo Anulare towards via Appia Nuova, and at exit 23 follow the signs for "Ciampino aeroporto".

  • By car: For those arriving from the North, the best way to reach the capital is via the Milan-Rome A1 motorway.
    Those coming from the West of the country should instead take the Aurelia State Road and then the Civitavecchia-Rome A12 motorway.
    From the Adriatic Coast, the best route is via the Aquila-Rome A24 motorway.
    Finally from the South, the Naples-Rome A1 motorway should be taken. Every motorway joins up with the "Grande Raccordo Anulare" (or G.R.A. - Rome Ring Road) with different exits for the centre and Rome's suburbs.
    Especially signed-posted Limited Traffic Zones are in place in the historical centre of the city: special permits, issued by Atac, The Capital's Public Mobility Agency, are required in order to drive through these areas. Special road signs as well luminous displays mark the entrances to these zones.
